WELCOME TO FRANKLIN LITTLE LEAGUE

FRANKLIN INDIANA LITTLE LEAGUE

VOLUNTEER WITH FRANKLIN LITTLE LEAGUE

Franklin Little League is solely operated by volunteers.  None of this would be possible without our volunteers and they are essential for the health and success of our league every season.

We understand that time is not easy to come by and whether you are a parent taking your player to and from practices or games, a parent that helps in the dugout at each game, a coach who is trying to come up with a practice plan for his/her team, or a board member making sure the season runs as smoothly as possible the league would not be possible without any of them.

See below for a more detailed list of roles within the Franklin Little League.  All roles have a sign up at the bottom of this page.

BOARD MEMBER:
Year long commitment.  All board members and board of directors are voted on at the first meeting.  All positions are available to be voted on.  To be a board member takes the most time and responsibility out of all the volunteers including league activities and monthly board meetings.

HEAD COACH:

Season long commitment.  Coaches can expect to spend many hours per week between practices, games, and team communications.  It takes a lot to be a coach and can be one of the most rewarding experiences in the world.

ASSISTANT COACH:
Season long commitment.  The assistant coach like the coach can expect to spend many hours a week helping the coach get ready for practices, games, and be ready to help out with any team tasks.

TEAM PARENT:
Season long commitment.  As a team parent you can expect to be available for games and some practices.  Most team parents help coordinate team snacks/drinks, help in the dugout with batting orders, keep the scorebook, or manage the game app (Game Changer, Stack Team).

LEAGUE VOLUNTEER:
Semi-Regular commitment.  These are individuals who would like to give back but may not be able to commit to any of the above.  They can be put in contact with a board member to find a position that would fit their schedule including Park Clean Up Days & Event help.

ALL LITTLE LEAGUE VOLUNTEERS MUST COMPLETE A LITTLE LEAGUE VOLUNTEER APPLICATION, A BACKGROUND CHECK THROUGH JDPALANTINE (PAID FOR BY THE LEAGUE), & ABUSE AWARENESS TRAINING.  VOLUNTEER STATUS RESETS AT THE BEGINNING OF EACH LEAGUE YEAR OCTOBER 1ST.

Note for Volunteers on Game Days:  Only three volunteers are allowed in the dugout per team.  Coach, Assistant Coach, and (1) Team Parent.  If more than one team parent signs up per team it will be up to the coach of the team to decide who will be in the dugout.

STEPS TO BECOME A VOLUNTEER:

1. REGISTER
At the bottom of this page is a Sign-Up section for all available volunteer opportunities.  If you already have a sports connect account it will ask you to login.  If you do not have an account it will ask you to register for an account. (All volunteers must have a Sports Connect Account and must register via the site)  Once you have logged in find the volunteer role you would like to sign up for and complete all sections including uploading of Government Photo ID.

2. BACKGROUND CHECK
After you have submitted your information a league administrator will verify all the information provided is correct and will send you a background check application from JDPalantine to your email.  The background check includes Criminal History, a search of the National Sex Offender Registry, the US Center for SafeSports's Centralized Disciplinary Database, USA Baseball Ineligible List, and Little League International Ineligible/Suspended List.

3. ABUSE AWARENESS TRAINING
Little League requires all volunteers to complete Child Abuse Awareness Training.  This used to be offered via USA Baseball but as of October 1st 2024 it is now available through the Little League University.  The training can be accessed HEREOnce you have completed the training download your certificate and send it to [email protected]

Items that will cause an automatic rejection of the application during the background check include.
Any pending investigation, chargers, convictions, guilty plea, no contest plea, or admission to any crime involving or against a minor.
Inclusion on the US Center for SafeSport's Centralized Disciplinary Database, USA Baseball's Ineligible List, or Little League International Ineligible/Suspended list.

The Board of Directors has final say over all Volunteer Applications and reserve the right to deny any applicant.  No volunteers have tenure or will be guaranteed a role.
